The Price of Dreams
The Price of Dreams follows Ngân, a 15-year-old girl in rural Vietnam whose future has already been decided. Her marriage has been arranged through tradition and astrology, her dowry negotiated, and questioning that path means challenging everything she has been taught to accept. In a community where child marriage remains common, Ngân quietly navigates the tension between expectation and possibility.
Presented by Plan International Canada and directed by Hà Lệ Diễm, the award-winning filmmaker behind Children of the Mist, this intimate observational documentary captures real life as it unfolds. Through moments both ordinary and profound, Ngân emerges as a thoughtful young woman caught between two worlds: the customs that shape her life and the dreams she is beginning to imagine for herself. Without judgment or easy answers, The Price of Dreams offers a deeply human portrait of adolescence, family, and the courage it takes to envision a different future.
